A Rockhampton court has heard an update in the case of a man accused of a Lakes Creek murder in 2021.

Hamid Hussein, 36, had his matter mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on September 28.

Mr Hussein was charged with murder after a 32-year-old man died from severe head injuries in February last year.

Mr Hussein was not required to appear in court on September 28 and it heard that he was in custody.

Solicitor Lachlan Robertson sought an adjournment, telling Magistrate Cameron Press that a translator was available for some material but that translator was away until October 16.

“So I’d be seeking an adjournment date for well after that for the material to be received and translated and returned,” Mr Robertson said.

Mr Press adjourned the matter to November 16 and noted the defendant was in custody and was not required to appear on the next court date.
