Drivers caught drunk, on drugs, unlicensed, face Biloela Magistrates Court

Eight drivers have been fined a total of $4700 for their traffic offences on the region’s roads. Here’s who got caught and what punishments each of them received.

These people pleaded guilty in Biloela Magistrates Court on March 23 to drink-driving, drug-driving or unlicensed driving offences.

Andrew West, 47, blew a high-range reading of .161 when he was caught drink-driving on Biloela’s Kariboe Street on February 21.

The court heard West came to the attention of police because of his erratic manner of driving.

With no relevant traffic history, West, a cleaner, was fined $1050 and disqualified from driving for eight months.

Justin Jonathon Green, 29, blew a reading of .117 when he was caught drink-driving on the Capricorn Highway at Duaringa on February 22.

With no offending of this sort in the past five years, Green, a labourer at a Monto pig farm, was fined $650 and disqualified from driving for four months.

Gabrielle Rose Rae, 39, blew a reading of .116 when she was caught drink-driving on Rogers Street, Moura, on March 5.

With no offending of this sort in the past five years, Rae was fined $650 and disqualified from driving for five months.

Brayden Rhys Dollard, 20, was caught drink-driving on the Dawson Highway at Biloela on February 11.

He blew a reading of .065.

With a previous drink-drive offence on his history from 2020, Dollard was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Lance Gregory Antcliff, 59, was caught driving unlicensed at Theodore on February 15.

After police pulled him over and asked about his driver’s licence, Antcliff said he was unaware of any suspension.

The court heard that Antcliff, a painter, was in fact demerit-point suspended as of December 30.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale noted that Antcliff had a “shocking” traffic history before fining him $550 and disqualifying him from driving for six months.

Suauu Mafiti Tapuai, 26, was caught driving unlicensed on Biloela’s Grevillea Street on February 13.

The court heard that Mafiti Tapuai had been driving his pregnant girlfriend to work at the time.

With no traffic history, he was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Megan Jane Bennie, 48, blew a reading of .120 when she was caught drink-driving at Biloela on March 4.

The meatworker was fined $650 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Leah May Dennis, 19, was caught drug-driving with cannabis in her system on the Dawson Highway at Mount Alma on February 4.

She was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.
