A man who fled into bushland during a late night domestic violence incident at Zilzie, has faced court.

The man, who by law cannot be named, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on April 27 to contravening a domestic violence order.

The court heard the aggrieved in this matter was the man’s partner, they lived together when the offence happened, and they shared children.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Darrell Dalton said that at 2am on April 21, police were called to a Zilzie house.

Sgt Dalton said after police arrived at the residence, they found the man sitting in scrubland about 50m from the house.

Sgt Dalton said the man threw a bottle at the house, was yelling at the aggrieved who was inside, and police had to negotiate with him to surrender.

The court heard what had initially set the man off was his partner asking for help with a child who had woken during the night.

Sgt Dalton said the man then “became irate” and threw property around while yelling abuse at his partner, calling her “a dog c--- piece of sh--” as well as making other derogatory comments.

The court heard the man had no prior domestic violence offences on his history.

Solicitor Felicity Davis said the man was “extremely remorseful” for his actions and she said he was intoxicated at the time of the offence.

Ms Davis said the couple was still together but they had been living separately since this incident.

Magistrate Grace Kahlert fined the man $500 and a conviction was recorded.
