Two years since a little boy tragically died at a Berserker home, his mother who is accused of murdering him has had her matter mentioned in court.
Louwanna Thyra Goltz, 38, has been charged with murder over the death of Zion Ziggy Sean Goltz at their Waterloo Street, Berserker residence in July 2022.
The matter was briefly mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 31.
Ms Goltz’s lawyer Pierre Lammersdorf told the court he had had discussions with the prosecution, which required an adjournment to find out how much material was still outstanding.
Mr Lammersdorf told the court prosecutors had also received a “sealed copy” of a mental health court decision and that his office also had material they needed to pick up.
Police prosecutor Clancy Fox asked for an adjournment of four weeks.
In an objection to bail affidavit by police viewed by this publication shortly after Zion’s death, it was alleged Ms Goltz arrived on the doorstep of family members in Parkhurst at 1am on July 30, “rambling incoherently about spirits and referencing a covered artist’s canvas” she had with her.
According to the court documents, one of the witnesses told police Ms Goltz allegedly told her she had been lying down with Zion watching television and a voice told her to kill him “because child safety would take him away and she herself would end up in a body bag”.
Police attended the Waterloo Street unit Ms Goltz shared with her son to perform a welfare check about 2.20am on Saturday, July 30, and officers found the eight-year-old boy unresponsive.
The court documents stated it appeared Zion had died by strangulation and an autopsy would provide further information.
In February 2024, the court heard Ms Goltz’s case had been referred to the Mental Health Court.
Ms Goltz’s matter is expected to be mentioned again on August 28.
