A registered child sex offender has faced a Central Queensland court for not adhering to strict reporting conditions.

Paul Raymond White, 43, pleaded guilty in Biloela Magistrates Court on April 12 to failing to comply with reporting obligations under the Child Protection Act.

Police prosecutor Kelvin Boyd said White was subject to reporting conditions as a child sex offender for five years from May 2, 2020.

The court heard that on March 28 this year, a police officer attended White’s Moura residence to conduct a compliance check.

Mr Boyd said White told the officer that he had not completed the required quarterly report for February.

“(White) stated the last couple of months had been stressful and he’d been in hospital for a recent heart attack in January, and since that time had become forgetful,” Mr Boyd said.

The court heard this was White’s first offence of this sort.

Solicitor Richard Parks said White was “extremely ill”.

“He was having pains in the chest in my office before,” Mr Parks said.

The solicitor tendered a document which confirmed that White, who was on a disability pension, had recently suffered a heart attack.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale fined White $200 and a conviction was recorded.
