A former private school graduate who went on to carry out an armed robbery at a service station in broad daylight has breached his armed robbery sentence and is back in prison.

Adikuyum Atu Marley Adidi was 18-years-old when he and his mate, Nathan Ryan Robert Paul Baira, 20, robbed the BP Service Station at Aquatic Place on August 26, 2019, about 2pm with Adidi armed with a knife and Baira armed with a wooden plank.

The pair got away with four packets of cigarettes, the staff member’s mobile phone and $1293 in cash.

Adidi was sentenced in April 2020 in Rockhampton District Court to three years and nine months prison for the armed robbery, suspended after serving 239 days with a five-year operational period and placed on probation for two years.

Two years later, he was sentenced to 18 months prison in Rockhampton Magistrates Court for three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and returned to the district court for breaching his 2020 suspended sentence.

Adidi, who attended Lighthouse Christian School, appeared in the district court on November 16 for resentencing.

Crown prosecutor Caleb Theunissen said Adidi had already been resentenced in April 2021 after breaching the suspended sentence and sentenced in January 2021 for breaking into a Capricorn Coast caravan park and caused damage, leaving his DNA behind.

He said Adidi’s three-page criminal record consisted of 16 entries after the service station armed robbery and included a common assault conviction.

Mr Theunissen said Adidi had 18-months left to serve on the armed robbery sentence.

Defence barrister Maree Willey said since he had been incarcerated this time, he had focused on staying out of trouble and instead focused on exercise and training.

Judge Jeff Clarke activated the remainder of the suspended sentence and ordered Adidi be eligible for parole immediately (November 16).
