Boat destroyed by fire at isolated beach near Zilzie

Firefighters and police trudged through treacherous terrain to the scene of a suspicious boat fire on an isolated beach in Zilzie.

A boat has been completely destroyed by fire at a hidden beach near Zilzie on the Capricorn Coast.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said officers attended the scene but had little involvement.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said the boat was completely burnt on arrival, and was still emitting a small amount of flames and smoke.

They expect the boat will continue smouldering for several hours.

The cause of the fire is currently undetermined.

The pathway to the site of the fire is isolated, and the track wades through mangrove terrain with long grass, dirty water and swathes of mud.
