Barry Bloomfield mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court

A prisoner who allegedly escaped custody while at Rockhampton Hospital receiving treatment has had his matters mentioned in court.

A prisoner who allegedly escaped lawful custody is back in hospital receiving treatment for a broken jaw, a court has heard.

Barry Bloomfield, 23, is charged with a number of offences including two counts of serious assault of a corrective services officer causing bodily harm, one count of escaping lawful custody and one count of serious assault of a public officer performing function.

The charges come after he allegedly absconded from the Rockhampton Hospital on Saturday morning before being recaptured and charged on Monday.

Bloomfield’s matter was mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning, but he did not appear in person.

He was represented by lawyer Claire Brtevnik.

Ms Brtevnik told the court she hadn’t had a chance to speak with Bloomfield as he was in hospital receiving treatment for a broken jaw.

His matters were adjourned to be mentioned again on June 20.
