A Central Queensland school student has been disciplined after police were called to a fake gun incident on school grounds this week.

Police attended a Yeppoon school on Tuesday afternoon where they seized the item.

“Police issued a verbal warning in response to a student displaying a fake gun on school grounds,” a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.

“At no time was anyone threatened.”

In Queensland it is an offence for people to walk around with imitation weapons.

A Department of Education spokesman said the student involved had been “dealt with in line with the school’s Student Code of Conduct”.

“No further details can be provided for student privacy reasons,” the spokesman said.

Neither police nor the Department of Education would disclose the school where the incident happened.
