Alton Downs cattlewoman Sharon Coome is already thinking ahead to her next challenge after her senior Lowline bull won two champion titles at the Rockhampton Show this week.

Mrs Coome’s bull won his class as well as claiming Champion Senior Bull and Supreme Champion Compact Breed Bull at Rockhampton Showgrounds.

Having entered multiple cattle competitions already this year and winning two of them, Mrs Coome, who owns Crimson Park at Alton Downs, was happy to chat about the event and why she was so passionate about that breed of cattle.

“I just love our cattle,” Mrs Coome said.

“The Lowline cattle are renowned for their docility and easiness to handle, so they’re good for school kids and people of our age.

“If you don’t know too much about cattle, they’re much easier to handle and a good starting point.”

On Friday, Mrs Coome’s cattle were taking a much-needed break after having competed in four local shows with the Mount Larcom Show to come next weekend.

Mrs Coome said her favourite thing about the show was meeting people, both in the cattle industry and complete novices.

What she wanted people who watched the competitions to learn was about the gentle nature of the Lowline breed and their versatility in terms of what people could use them for.

The Rockhampton Show’s last day for 2022 is Friday, June 10.
