IT'S every shopper's dream.

Gracemere mum Tracy Hannah yesterday won the chance to grab as many items as possible from a shop within 30 seconds and keep them free of charge at the grand opening of Gracemere Shoppingworld.

After a crazed half-a-minute running around Best and Less, Tracy walked away with hundreds of dollars worth of kids' and adults' clothing and shoes.

"It was my lucky day," Tracy said.

"I've never won anything before. I told my mum and partner I should go and buy a scratchie."

And according to self-confessed shopping lovers Katrina and Ruth Vaughan, Tracy wasn't the only lucky one yesterday - they believe the centre will benefit the whole community.

"It's bigger than I expected and the cafe is great," Katrina said.

Hundreds of window shoppers and bargain hunters converged on Gracemere's first shopping centre at 8am, some of them waiting more than half an hour for the doors to open.

It was a successful day for many store managers, including Woolworths' manager Richard Henry, who said he was expecting 12,000 customers and Best and Less national operations manager Colin Thompson who was expecting 10,000 shoppers.
