New constables to work out of Rockhampton, Yeppoon stations

Member for Rockhampton Barry O’Rourke said the The Palaszczuk Government had committed to rolling out 2,025 extra police personnel over five years.

Four new police officers, who will be based at both South and North Rockhampton stations as well as Yeppoon, were welcomed to Central Queensland on Tuesday morning.

They graduated on Thursday at the Townsville Stadium after completing their training at the North Queensland Police Academy.

The four new officers are on top of the eight new police officers heading to the region who graduated from the Oxley Police Academy recently.

Member for Rockhampton, Barry O’Rourke congratulated the new officers on their decision to pursue a career in community safety.

“I’m looking forward to seeing these new first year constables out and about in our community, keeping us safe,” Mr O’Rourke said.

“I wish them all the very best as they embark on their new career in policing.

“These new first year constables will be at the forefront of policing in Central Queensland. They will play an important role in maintaining the safety of residents and visitors to our region.

“These new officers will be warmly welcomed into our community. We certainly appreciate the efforts of our local policing in keeping the community safe.”

Mr O’Rourke welcomed the new recruits to Central Queensland.

“I am delighted to welcome these new first year constables into our community. They are the best of the best and we will support their efforts to keep our community safe,” Mr O’Rourke said.

“We have a great lifestyle here in Rockhampton and I know that these new first year constables will be warmly welcomed by our community.

“They will be a welcome addition to the hardworking police in our region who work around the clock to maintain safety in our community.”

He said the The Palaszczuk Government had committed to rolling out 2,025 extra police personnel over five years.

“This includes at least 150 extra police officers for the Central Policing Region.”
