Man pulled from floodwaters at Baralaba near Coolum Road
A Central Queensland man parted ways with his “pride and joy” as it got bogged after attempting to cross a creek in fast moving floodwaters.

Another Central Queenslander was pulled from floodwaters as his attempt to salvage his beloved ute ended in vain.
A 24-year-old man contacted emergency services when his Mitsubishi Triton became bogged after attempting to cross a flooded creek near Baralaba, in the Banana Shire on Thursday night.
Police received the call for assistance from the driver and sole occupant about 5.41pm to a creek near Coolum Rd.
While the driver was swiftly moved to safety, there was no chance of salvaging his vehicle that was swept away with floodwaters rapidly rising.
It comes as a ‘mini tornado’ almost touched down west of a major Qld town on Saturday afternoon as witnesses captured the moment on camera.
Local police described the ute as the 24 year old’s “pride and joy” and said it was a reminder that vehicles and floodwaters did not mix.
Baralaba resident, Tahnee Warry labelled the gully, where the driver was stranded, “so deceiving”.
“It’s the sand underneath that gets you bogged any 4WD would get stuck … lot of rain that night too,” Ms Warry said on Facebook.
The man was transported safely back to town by police.
It comes as Central Highlands residents were told to prepare for flash flooding as severe storms with heavy rainfall battered the already drenched region for more than three consecutive days this week.
