Livingstone Shire Council will be on the hunt for a new CEO following the resignation of Cale Dendle.

It comes after he accepted the position as the new CEO of Isaac Regional Council.

Mr Dendle will finish with Livingstone Shire Council after the adoption of the 2024/25 council budget next month.

“Livingstone Shire has a bright future and I’m pleased to have played some small part in its development in recent times,” Mr Dendle said.

“Nearly all of my immediate family lives on the Capricorn Coast so I have a vested interest in seeing the shire continue to succeed even after I’m gone.”

Mr Dendle said he was excited to take up his new position on Australia’s largest resource council and looked forward to moving to the Isaac region.

“The prospect to work with a council team that has such big ambitions, and a future focus is really enticing, ” he said

“I am passionate about supporting the council to deliver some big projects and excited by the challenges and opportunities the Isaac region offers.

“Shelley and I look forward to settling in and becoming part of the Isaac community.”

Isaac Regional Council Mayor Kelly Vea Vea said she was pleased to appoint Mr Dendle as the new CEO.

“Cale brings a wealth of government expertise, understands the pressures facing regional councils and brings a wealth of knowledge to the role,“ she said.

“We were incredibly impressed by the high calibre of candidates who applied for this role, and we are thrilled to have Cale on board.

Mr Dendle began his position as CEO of Livingstone Shire Council in February 2021 after the sacking of former CEO Christina Murdoch in September 2020.

Ms Murdoch, who was the first female CEO of the council, was sacked after the council commissioned an independent investigation under the oversight of the Crime and Corruption Commission into allegations of misconduct.

Mr Dendle’s career in local government spans across more than 25 years, having held director and chief executive roles.

He grew up on the Capricorn Coast and has deep family connections across the council area.

Mr Dendle has previously served as also worked in board and company secretary roles for St Brendan’s College at Yeppoon.

An announcement on the appointment of an acting CEO will be made in the coming weeks.
