The Department of Transport and Main Roads advises that early construction works are expected to commence on Monday, July 19, as part of the Lawrie Street Upgrade project in Gracemere.
During early works, multiple work areas will be established at various times within the project footprint to facilitate the following activities:
- Installation of a temporary footpath and site establishment for bridge construction adjacent to the Gracemere State School.
- Removal of concrete medians and concrete roundabout islands.
- Removal of existing street lights and poles. Temporary lighting will be installed.
- Public Utility and Plant potholing, relocation and protection work.
- Installation of new stormwater drainage infrastructure.
These activities are expected to begin on Monday and continue through to October 2021.
Works will be completed at night between 8pm and 5am when traffic volumes are lowest, though some activities will need to be completed during the day.
Traffic control, lane closures and speed restrictions will be in place during working hours.
Motorists are reminded to drive carefully through the roadworks area, be aware of changed traffic conditions and follow the direction of traffic control on site.
