Jobs on offer: How to score a role at the new drug rehab centre

A recruitment drive for Rockhampton‘s Alcohol and other Drug Rehabilitation Centre has started with recruitment for the 35-person workforce underway.

Centre operators Lives Lived Well have advertised for a general practitioner, enrolled nurse, team leader and a registered nurse.

The recruitment drive for the facility began in May and there has been “strong interest” in roles for clinicians and support staff.

The facility will support around 35 full-time, part-time and casual staff.

The specialised team will provide residents rehabilitation, withdrawal and family support.

Staff will be expected to work with residents who present with alcohol and other drug dependency and a broad range of associated psychological and physiological issues including complex co-morbidities.

Employees will have access to professional development, regular training and supervision and support.

The new service will deliver world class evidence-backed clinical treatment programs, partnered with the University of Queensland.

Buildings have gone up for the drug rehab centre in North Rockhampton.

The $16.3 million 42-bed facility has been constructed by Woollam Constructions who began works at the Parkhurst site in November.

There will be 32 adult single rooms for residential rehabilitation, eight adult beds for residential withdrawal treatment unit and two three-bedroom family units for family residential rehabilitation.

The purpose-built treatment centre is the first of its kind in Central Queensland.

The brand new site was set to become a ‘centre of excellence’ in drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Construction was expected to be completed by the end of September and the centre was to be operational by the end of the year.
