Rain, hail or shine there will be plenty of events happening around Central Queensland to celebrate Australia Day.

From live music to awards, thong throwing and lamington eating competitions - see what’s happening in your area for Australia Day.

ROCKHAMPTON

Great Australian Bites and Country on Kershaw 2024

Rockhampton Showgrounds - Robert Schwarten Pavilion, Wandal

3pm to 6pm

Stage program, food trucks, markets, amusements, games and true-blue Aussie activities. Bring your family and friends along to enjoy a game of tug-of-war, inflatable obstacle courses, face painting, toss the thong challenge and a cricket match or two. Country on Kershaw will kick off from 3pm and feature a country music line-up from Cassidy Rae, Zac Cross Band, Tony Cook Band, Louise James FX, Kate Mahood and Rachael Dee.

Rockhampton Water Ski Club Australia Day Event

Rockhampton Water Ski Club, 88 Ski Gardens Road, Alton Downs

9am to 5pm

Free water skiing, wakeboarding, knee boarding, barefooting and tubing.

Club ski boat and other members ski boats provided.

Free sausage sizzle, soft drinks and bottled water.

Free cricket and lawn badminton.

Free camping on night of 25/01/24.

Stanwell Australia Day on the Lawn

Stanwell Community Hall

4pm to 10pm

Free BBQ dinner.

Kids entertainment, slip and slide and best dressed competition.

No BYO - beverages available for purchase.

LIVINGSTONE

Great Australia Day Beach Party

Yeppoon Main Beach

7am - 8.30pm

Family fun run, beach games, market stalls, food vans, amusement rides, a full stage program and fireworks.

CENTRAL HIGHLANDS

Australia Day Awards: Capella

BBQ Breakfast, award presentations and thong throwing competition.

Australia Day Awards: Springsure

Bauhinia Memorial Hall Porphyry and Eclipse Streets (Dawson Highway)

Award presentations followed by Billy Cart races hosted by Springsure State School P and C.

Live music, Aussie-themed activities, games free face painting, free sausage sizzle, food vendors and Aussie games and activities, including tug of war, sack races, lamington-eating competitions, dunny roll toss, egg and spoon races, footy throw, three-legged races, jumbo slide and rock wall climbs.

The winners of this year’s Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museums' Celebrate Australia Primary School Art Competition will also be celebrated.
