Five Rocks rollover: Patient airlifted from Nine Mile Beach after ejected from back of ute

Paramedics and RACQ Capricorn Rescue treated five patients after they were thrown from the back of a ute when it rolled over on the beach at Five Rocks.

The rescue helicopter was called to popular camping spot, Five Rocks near Byfield, on Saturday night after five people were ejected from the back of a ute when it rolled.

Paramedics first attended the scene at Nine Mile Beach just after 9pm and RACQ Capricorn Rescue was called for assistance, with the helicopter leaving base just before 10pm.

A female teenager was treated for suspected head injuries from the accident.

She was stabilised and flown to Rockhampton Base Hospital for further scans and treatment.

Another patient was assessed by the onboard helicopter critical care paramedics but refused treatment for a possible back and head injury.

He was later taken via ambulance to hospital.

Two males in their 20s declined transport to hospital.

On Friday night, RACQ Capricorn Rescue airlifted a patient with abdominal pain from Great Keppel Island to Rockhampton Base Hospital.
