Emergency services were called to a fire on Edington St, Berserker, to reports of an abandoned house on fire.
The fire was reported just after 5pm on Thursday and upon Queensland Fire and Emergency Service arrival the home was “fully involved”.
The blaze had spread to neighbouring units as fire crews worked to extinguish it.
The home where the fire started is believed to be abandoned.
The brick units neighbouring the home sustained significant damage.
Residents of neighbouring units were evacuated and smoke could be seen across town.
Police temporarily closed access to Edington St and a large amount of onlookers were gathered on the street.
Fire crews reported to have the fire under control around 6pm and were dampening down hotspots.
One person was assessed by paramedics.
Witness Megan Smith said the fire went up “quite quickly” and the flames were higher than the trees.
“The first house was engulfed and the flames jumped into the second house,” she said.
