A Rockhampton toy shop owner is amazed and grateful after a business owner donated thousands of dollars to pay off every single lay-by order at their store.
Totally Toys owner Dennis Boyce described the generosity of the genuinely secret Santa as heartwarming.
The business owner also asked to remain anonymous, explaining they just liked to help others.
“(They) came in the other day and asked how much we had left (on lay-by), and offered to pay all of them,” he said.
“(They have) actually done this a few times over the last few years.
“Our managers get to make these great calls to people to let them know that their lay-by has been paid off - it’s pretty emotional for some people, especially because everybody is doing it a bit tough this year.”
Dennis said these acts of kindness have a strong impact on individual families, and the community as a whole.
“People are very thankful, and some people basically just break down and cry because they are very thankful, and very emotional,” he said.
“It makes people feel connected to the community.”
Rockhampton’s St Nick does not usually speak about the donations.
“I generally fly under the radar,” they said.
“I think Christmas is a real special time for kids, and for those that don’t have the resources around to easily go and buy presents, it must be pretty hard.
“It’s good to be able to do good things for those families which are less fortunate than myself.
“I think it’s just a good thing to do when you can.”
