Covid-19 deaths reported in CQ, one person in their 60s and another in their 70s

Central Queensland has sadly recorded its first Covid fatalities, after 218 cases were recorded in the past 24 hours.

CQ Health has reported two people with COVID-19 have died in Central Queensland.

The report was made on Sunday, January 30.

It is the first deaths from COVID-19 reported in the region since the pandemic began.

A person aged in their 60s had comorbidities, meaning one or more medical conditions, and was fully vaccinated.

The second person was aged in their 70s with comorbidities and was not vaccinated.

At 8am today there were 14 COVID patients in Rockhampton Hospital, all in a stable condition.

As of the past 24 hours on January 30, CQ Health reported there were 218 confirmed cases in Central Queensland from PCR tests.

There were 83 in the Rockhampton Regional Council area, 44 in Gladstone Regional Council area, 49 in Livingstone Shire Council area, 32 in Central Highlands Regional Council area, eight in Banana Shire Council area and two people with a Central Queensland address who are elsewhere.

There were 43 self-reported RAT positives for CQ which have been registered through Queensland Health’s RAT registration portal in the past 24 hours.

Across the state, there was 8580 new Covid-19 cases and 13 deaths in the past 24 hours.

The deaths included two people in their 60s, four in their 70s, three in their 80s, three in 90s, and one over 100.

Five of the people were unvaccinated, eight had two doses and none of them had a booster.

There were 745 patients with COVID being treated in hospital and 41 in ICU.
