Covid: Case numbers for Central Queensland, Central West on February 1

Testing delays: A shortage of PCR supplies has led to most tests being sent from Rockhampton to Brisbane on Tuesday, while the issue is sorted.

A shortage of PCR supplies has led to a lower number of confirmed Covid-19 cases across Central Queensland on February 1.

On Tuesday, only 29 confirmed PCR cases were reported in Central Queensland, but CQ Health says this is due to a state-wide shortage of PCR reagent, so non-urgent tests have been sent to Brisbane.

There were 79 self-reported RAT positives.

Three of these cases were from Rockhampton, 13 from Gladstone, two from Livingstone, 10 from Central Highlands and one from the Banana Shire.

As of 8am, there were 16 Covid patients in the Rockhampton Hospital and one in the Gladstone Hospital, all in stable conditions.

Eight new Covid cases were reported in the Central West.

This leaves 58 active cases including six in Alpha, three in Aramac, two in Barcaldine, two in Blackall, one in Jundah, 17 in Longreach, two in Tambo, three in Windorah and 22 in Winton.

No deaths were recorded overnight, and two deaths have been recorded in the region since the beginning of the pandemic.
