Where to find the cheapest fuel around Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gladstone, Emerald

With fuel prices expected to continue falling, motorists around Central Queensland are still encouraged to shop around. Here’s where prices are cheapest around the region at the moment.

Motorists around Central Queensland have received a bit of relief at the petrol bowser, however there are still some hefty prices in the fuel market.

After prices hit just over 200 cents per litre, the Federal Government cut the fuel excise by 22.1 cpl when it handed down its pre-election Budget.

In Rockhampton most service stations currently sit around 177 cpl but there are some cheaper alternatives to fill up around town.

Meanwhile diesel prices sit at an average of 192.9 cpl.

In Yeppoon the average price of fuel is 171cpl, with diesel sitting at 190.5cpl.

Further south in Gladstone fuel is on average 171.2cpl, with diesel being cheaper than Rocky and Yeppoon at an average of 188.1cpl.

RACQ spokeswoman Nicky Haydon said while the fuel excise cut had been a major player in the price of fuel coming down, there were also other factors contributing to the lower prices.

“While ULP prices have fallen due to the fuel excise cut, oil prices have also come down which has led to cheaper prices at the bowser. However, the price of oil remains incredibly volatile, so we are continuing to closely monitor prices,” she said.

“The average price of ULP in Rockhampton is sitting at around 177 cents per litre. We expect prices will continue to trend down across the region so wait to fill up if you can.”

Ms Haydon said while the prices were expected to continue coming down, motorists should shop around for the cheapest price at the bowser.

“We know the record high fuel prices greatly added to cost of living pressures faced by Queenslanders.

“While fuel prices are continuing to fall across regional Queensland, if you need fuel, it’s still important to shop around to find the cheapest site – it really does pay to shop around.

“Make sure you’re using apps like RACQ’s Fair Fuel Finder to track down the best deals. If you’re heading away, check prices along your route or at your destination too, as you might find it’s cheaper to fill up there.”
