Rockhampton named city, Queensland state with most cheaters

Enthusiasm for beef notwithstanding, Rockhampton now boasts the titillating title of Australia’s Cheat Capital, if affair website Ashley Madison’s latest infidelity index is to be believed.

Australians are “packing up for a vacation from monogamy”, the married dating service announced this week.

“Lockdowns have catalysed extramarital affairs around the world, and Australia is no exception.

“As Australians seek out and cozy up to affair partners, there’s no escaping the summer’s heat even as winter sets in.”

Queensland topped the 2021 ranking, with nine of its cities making the list.

Rockhampton jumped from ninth place to first in one year, Mackay climbed the ranks to third, and the Sunshine Coast and Bundaberg joined the list’s upper echelon, all helping Queensland secure its win – or loss, depending on perspective.

“The monotony of life in lockdown has renewed people’s appreciation for novelty and adventure,” Ashley Madison communications director Isabella Mise said.

“More romantic spontaneity can be expected, and who knows, an ‘anti-cuffing season’ of sorts may be imminent.

“Interestingly, the remainder of the list is largely made up of cities with relatively high winter temperatures including Darwin, Brisbane, and Perth.

“Clearly, cuffing season isn’t for everyone, and Australian Ashley Madison members are flocking to the country’s warmest cities to relish the heat.”
