Clayton Rose is “riding his Harley in heaven” after losing his battle with cancer.
The Rockhampton mine worker – who was diagnosed on November 5 last year with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer – died on March 5.
The prognosis from doctors at the time was three to 12 months.
Clayton was determined to make it to his 50th birthday, which he did on February 25.
He leaves behind wife Katrina, children Michael, Letisha, Daniel, Jayden and Lachelle and grandchildren Cooper and Flynn.
Clayton will be farewelled at a service at the Rockhampton Crematorium East Chapel at 1pm on Friday.
His funeral notice carried the words: “A gentle soul, a beautiful face, someone we can never replace.”
Katrina had described Clayton as a fun-loving dude who cherished happy times.
Heartbroken and devastated by his passing, she said Clayton would now be off riding his Harley in heaven.
Clayton and Katrina had been together for 15 years before the diagnosis was delivered.
It was devastating, given that Clayton was fit and well and working full-time as a mechanical fitter in the mines at Blackwater.
Just days after what Katrina described as the “horrible news”, Clayton proposed and they married in an emotional service on November 21 in Rockhampton.
Katrina said they enjoyed what was their last Christmas together, with “all the trimmings of a big lunch and loads of presents and love”.
Anyone who would like to can join a final ride for Clayton from the PCYC to the crematorium starting at 12.30pm Friday.
