From politicians to entrepreneurs, here are the people who earn very high salaries in Central Queensland. Some of them are on more than $500k a year. FULL LIST

From the industry-rich city of Gladstone to the administrative and commercial centre of Rockhampton, many people living in Central Queensland are earning the big bucks.

Many of Central Queensland’s public servants earn more than Prime Minister Scott Morrison, whose salary is estimated to be just under $550,000.

Here’s how much Central Queensland’s public servants, politicians, businesspeople and investors make according to public documents.

State politicians

Central Queensland’s politicians earn six figure salaries each year.

Barry O’Rourke, Colin Boyce, Stephen Andrew, Stephen Bennett and Lachlan Millar each make $186,869 as committee members.

Brittany Lauga makes $248,282 as an assistant minister, and Glenn Butcher makes $334,259 as a state minister.

These figures are set by the Queensland Independent Remuneration Tribunal.

Judges and Magistrates

Those on the bench have many years of experience as legal professionals throughout Queensland and its communities.

And their salaries are impressive.

Central Queensland is home to one Supreme Court justice, one District Court judge and five Magistrates, as well as a resident Federal Circuit and Family Court judge.

The Commonwealth’s Remuneration Tribunal has set the salary for a Federal Circuit judge at $394,980.

For state judges, Supreme Court Justice Graeme Crow’s remuneration is set at $468,020 and District Court Judge Jeff Clark’s at $421,218.

Magistrates Bevan Manthey, Cameron Press, Philippa Beckinsale and Jason Schubert have remunerations of $368,331.

Gladstone Ports Corporation

The GPC’s nominal interim CEO makes about $122,000 per year, but this figure is eclipsed by the COO Craig Walker’s salary of $602,000, which is more than the Prime Minister.

He has been with the government-owned company for three years and oversees the largest multi-commodity port in Queensland.

Nick Klomp

CQUniversity’s vice-chancellor oversees the most widespread university in the country, but also touts a salary more than the Prime Minister’s.

According to reports, Professor Klomp made $765,000 last year.

A CQUni spokeswoman said Professor Klomp’s annual salary increased before the pandemic and figures reflected an independent revaluation of in-kind, non-cash benefits.

Bevan Slattery

The Rockhampton-based tech entrepreneur has an estimated net worth of $564m.

The North Rockhampton State High School and CQUni graduate founded iSeek, which manages data centres, as well as PIPE Networks, both which were sold off. He has also been involved in numerous other data centre projects.

CQHHS

Many top executives in Central Queensland’s Hospital and Health Service earn significant salaries.

Outgoing chief executive Steve Williamson made $399,000 last year, but that’s not as much as the CFO Colin Weeks who made $516,000 or executive director of medical services Associate Professor Pooshan Navathe who made $576,000.

Private schools

The leaders of Central Queensland’s elite schools earn substantial salaries.

The headmaster of Rockhampton Grammar School Phillip Moulds made $498,626 last year and Rockhampton Girls Grammar principal Deanne Johnston made $249,111, according to public documents.
