The new store will have a fresh look and will still have all of the favourites on the menu.

Miss India is undergoing some changes in the region with its south Rockhampton store relocating up the road and a new store being opened in Yeppoon.

The Miss India store located on the corner of Cambridge Street and George Street, across from Rockhampton Leagues Club, will move up the road to the One Eleven George complex, across from McDonalds.

It will be located in the former Indian Brothers tenancy which closed around 2016.

It is expected the move will happen in a few months time.

Pattysmiths opened at the complex in May and Pizza Hut is also in midst of re-opening a store there.

Regional manager Raymond Prasa said the menu would stay the same but the new store would have a fresh look.

“There would be some additional things, a bit better presentation,” he said.

Miss India has been located at its current site since 2012.

The property is owned by the Rockhampton Leagues Club, which bought it as part of a multi sale in 2007 for $1.95 million.

Rockhampton Leagues Club owns a number of nearby properties on Murray, Campbell, George and Cambridge streets.

In August 2019, a rundown house adjacent to Miss India, also owned by Rockhampton Leagues Club, was removed.

At the time, Rockhampton Leagues Club advised The Morning Bulletin “there was no redevelopment at this stage and the house was being removed as it was dilapidated”.

It is unknown what the site will be used for going forward.

Miss India is also in the process of opening a store in Yeppoon.

The coast store will be located in Normanby Street, next door to Zambrero.

A fit-out has just begun and is expected to take four to six weeks.

It will be more of a takeaway store as it is a bit smaller and will provide employment for three full-time staff and one casual.

The expansion to the coast came about due to customer demand.

“We have a lot of customers from Yeppoon, there was a lot of enquiries made from people in Yeppoon,” Mr Prasa said.

“We waited and weren’t too sure but finally an opportunity came and thought we would take it.”
