Global agriculture supplies giant Nutrien Ag Solutions is expanding its Australian operations into North Rockhampton with a new complex planned for Parkhurst.

Rockhampton Regional Council approved development of the large Nutrien project on a 10,000 sqm site with Bruce Highway frontage on 787 Yaamba Road.

The two-stage development, located just north of the Parkhurst Shopping Centre, involves construction of a (stage 1) showroom, office, warehouse, outdoor hardstand display area; and vehicle manoeuvring, parking and loading area and (stage 2) a bulk fertilizer shed.

Nutrien Ag Solutions, which formed its Australian branch in 2019 with the merger of Ruralco and Landmark, claims to be the largest distributor of both farming supplies and fertiliser in the country with over 700 locations and 4000 staff.

The focus of the new Parkhurst complex is to provide rural products and materials to service local primary producers within the region.

The development application to council said the proposed Parkhurst showroom and office building carried a floor area of 513 square metres consisting of a showroom display area for smaller products and goods and an open work area including offices, meeting rooms, a kitchen and amenities.

The proposed warehouse, with a floor area of 1,127 square metres, consists of an open plan warehouse space and includes seven rows of pallet racking, a cool room, shelving area, storage rooms and a wrapping area.

The bulk fertiliser shed, with a floor area of 462 square metres includes four storage bunkers fitted with concrete tilt panels along the north, south and western walls to ensure the bunkers are self-contained and the risk of product runoff is minimised.

All three buildings are single story with the smallest building being the showroom and office having a max height of 4.85 metres and the tallest building being the bulk fertiliser shed having a maximum height of 11.2 metres.

The buildings are designed and constructed in Colourbond sheeting materials and face towards Bruce Highway frontage, set back approximately 12 metres from the road.

There will be 13 customer vehicle parking spaces and 30 staff parking spaces located within the southern portion of the site.

Landscaping is proposed along the Yaamba Road frontage and within vehicle parking areas.
