GONE are the days of paper pushing for Bradd Dillon, and he couldn't be happier.

The sales consultant from Rockhampton's Ray White Real Estate is no stranger to the term "widget" and couldn't imagine life without his smart phone and iPad, which have replaced paper diaries, slow desktop computers and phone calls for many of today's businesses.

In the real estate game, having the latest technology has become the backbone of success, allowing agents to communicate with clients at the touch of a button.

"I can always access the database no matter where I am," Bradd said.

"If I'm at an open house I can send potential buyers an email with a list of properties to suit them and they'll get it before they even get home."

Bradd said everyone in his office had an iPad, an initiative introduced two months ago.

And he isn't the only one taking advantage of technology's benefits.

Dan Withers, principal of Rockhampton's Ology Real Estate, which began in November, said with the real estate industry constantly changing it was important to keep up.

"Our whole structure is based around these technologies," he said.

"My iPhone, iPad and the office computers are all synched to the same program, so if someone in the office books me an appointment, straight away I get notified no matter where I am."

Dan said the thousands of applications available now were also handy while he was out and about.

"Personally, I'm into a lot of fitness so I use apps for that and then there's heaps for work," he said.

Dan said Ology Real Estate also had a Facebook page and was in the process of creating a Twitter account.

"In this industry time is of the essence, and Facebook gives us instant access," he said.
