Boatie understood to have lost phone overboard but made emergency call on second phone without SIM card

RACQ CapRescue and the Yeppoon Coast Guard responded to a vessel in distress just north of Corio Bay on Thursday morning.
The Coast Guard’s Yeppoon Rescue One launched about 8am, with the rescue chopper taking off shortly after.
Coast guard flotilla commander Jim Warren said the vessel needing assistance had broken down about 1.5km off Nine Mile Beach.
He said a man on board had reportedly lost his phone overboard and is understood to have used another phone without a SIM card to call the Australian Marine Safety Authority Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.
No one onboard was injured.
The vessel was towed back to Rosslyn Bay Harbour by the coast guard, arriving just after 11am.
