Bill Ludwig is in it for the long run in Livingstone

LIVINGSTONE Shire Mayor, Bill Ludwig says the election outcome was “the most resounding mandate that any council could ever hope to receive from its community”.

LIVINGSTONE Shire Mayor, Bill Ludwig has said the "overwhelming" outcome was "the most resounding mandate that any council could ever hope to receive from its community".

Cr Ludwig currently has 13,758 votes compared to his only competitor, Heath Hendwood's 6333. That is a whopping 68.48% of votes going to Cr Ludwig so far, with more left to count.

Cr Ludwig said the result and the re-election of all six councillors was an "affirmation" of the job the council has been doing for locals while re-establishing an independent Livingstone Shire.

"De-amalgamation both restored Livingstone's independence and has allowed us to once again play a pivotal role in facilitating growth and investment in our region," Cr Ludwig said.

"From major projects like the Yeppoon Foreshore and Emu Park Centenary of Anzac to more effective and efficient council service delivery, Livingstone is moving ahead in leaps and bounds."

"Securing joint state and federal support for projects like Rookwood Weir to grow our agricultural and industry base, as well as establishing a fully functioning international airport as part of an integrated tourism and export network must be a key part of any regional strategy."

Cr Ludwig has also confirmed he will continue running for mayor until he feels there is a suitable candidate to take over his position.
