Aaron Kleier has written his name into another chapter in the bull riding history books.

The Clermont cowboy won a fourth consecutive PBR Australia championship at the weekend’s grand finals in Townsville.

The result means he has tied with David Kennedy for the most national titles won by a rider in league history.

It comes after Kleier became the first bull rider to win three straight last year.

The 23 year old sensation celebrated his most recent success with a few beers and a flutter at the casino in Townsville.

“It feels good to get the four, to be consistent over the four years,” Kleier said.

“Like I’ve said before, I tend not to focus on the titles too much, more just riding my bull.

“I feel like when I get a bit older and maybe finish I’ll look back and realise what I’ve got.”

Kleier went into the finals on top of the national rankings.

He started in impressive fashion, going two for two on Friday night.

He rode his first bull on Saturday night but failed to score on his second and again in the short round.

That meant he finished third but it was enough to get him the overall title.

“The weekend started off well after I rode my first two bulls,” he said.

“After the first one on Saturday night I maybe put a bit of pressure on myself because I wanted to ride every bull for the finals and maybe it got to me a little bit.”

Kleier pocketed the $25,000 title bonus and also expected to pick up a slice of the $40,000 on offer at the grand finals.

And his good fortune didn’t stop there as he enjoyed more success during his celebrations.

“I went to the casino and had a few beers, and it was good to catch up with everyone,” he said.

“I played a bit of blackjack there and actually had a little bit of a win so walked away with a little bit of money.”

Kleier said he would now enjoy some down time before gearing up for what he hopes will be another big year in 2022.

“I won’t do any shows until probably New Year’s now. I’ll just have a bit of a break and let the body get back to feeling good and freshen up for next year.

“I feel like I’ve still got a long time left so if I just keep going and riding my bulls then hopefully I keep achieving things.”
