ROBIN Bailey has spoken out about being axed from her 97.3 breakfast show.
Following the shock announcement by Australian Radio Network on Monday morning that the Robin, Terry and Bob co-host would depart the team after they were unable to agree on terms, the popular presenter told Mamamia she had been in contract negotiations for some time and assumed they were going well despite not receiving feedback or an offer from ARN.
“That’s until Monday morning; I was called into a meeting with three ARN executives and told my services were no longer required,” she told the website.
She also told Mamamia she was “completely gobsmacked” by the news.
Earlier on Monday morning, national content director Duncan Campbell issued a statement saying: “Robin has had a great ten years on-air with 97.3 and we’re sad to see her go. While we worked hard to keep Robin as part of the team, we’re disappointed that we were unable to agree (to) terms. All at ARN and the team at 97.3 wish her the very best.”
While the station is yet to name her replacement, Campbell signalled further announcements were due “soon” regarding the popular breakfast trio.
“But what we’re very happy to confirm now is that Terry Hansen will remain with the show and be joined by a new host, along with Bob Gallagher who will continue as the show’s anchor,” he said.
“We’re extremely excited about 2017 and the fun and compelling content we will have on offer for our Brisbane listeners — both loyal and new alike.”
We're sad to say Robin Bailey will be leaving the breakfast show. She has been amazing and we wish her all the best. https://t.co/GB4iFQZwt7
