A Brisbane City Council road worker has been mowed down in an alleged hit and run in Brisbane’s southside, with police appealing for witnesses.
A 27-year-old man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a silver Toyota Camry struck the man at Morningside just after midnight Wednesday.
It’s understood the vehicle continued along Junction Rd for a short time before crashing into a power pole. The driver then allegedly fled the scene on foot.
It’s understood the incident happened at the resurfacing and bike lane upgrade works on Junction Rd, between Baringa St and Barwon St in Morningside.
The works include the installation of dedicated bike lanes with buffer zones and low-profile separators.
A Brisbane City council spokesperson said “it was a shocking incident and the council has offered support to the worker and their partner”.
Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage to come forward.
