Three years later, Mitchell proposed on Christmas Day, at their home in Balmoral, in Brisbane’s southeast. They tied the knot at Blackbird Bar & Grill at Brisbane’s Eagle St, followed by a cocktail reception at the venue.

What made this uniquely your wedding?
Our focus was on the celebration more than the formalities. We did a photo shoot before the proceedings and had a (very) quick afternoon ceremony so we could spend as much time as possible at the reception.
Special memories?
Lucy’s aunt and uncle surprised her by travelling from the UK.
Funny moments?
Lucy and her maid of honour were a tad late for the ceremony … because they were enjoying an antipasto platter.
Best advice for other couples?
Make a list of all your “wants” for the wedding and list them in priority order, then allocate your budget around this. Allow plenty of time after formalities to relax and enjoy yourself.
