Queenslanders planning to embrace beards after isolation

How to keep your beard in tip-top condition if you’re planning to keep it for the new year.

Queensland men to “experiment” with “iso” hair in new year

Queenslanders are planning to embrace their isolation beards, with a new survey revealing facial hair will be on trend for men next year.

But experts are urging the newly whiskered to make sure they know how to properly care for their beard to maintain a “chiselled” look.

Nearly one-in-three Queensland men are planning to experiment with their facial appearance in the New Year, a survey for Pureprofile and Bulldog Skincare for Men shows.

And more than half of those said they would be cleaning up a not-so-carefully curated iso-beard, sprouted during a COVID-19 lockdown.

Hair educator and former men’s Brisbane hairdresser of the year Jules Tognini said a good razor was paramount.

“Having a good razor is key to keep your moustache cut lines tight, and to help give your beard definition, giving you a chiselled look,” he said.

“Keep your beard food free with beard shampoo and conditioner, for softness and shine moisturise your beard daily with beard oil, and style and control the frizz with original beard balm.

“Using a hydrating shaving gel and moisturiser with ingredients like aloe vera, camelina oil and green tea will help reduce irritation if you’re going for a mo or clean-shaven look.”
