Queensland newlyweds in NZ now accounted for, two still missing

TWO Queenslanders remain unaccounted-for in the aftermath of the White Island volcanic eruption in New Zealand that occurred at 11.11am QLD time yesterday.
Jessica Richards, 20, and her mother Julie Richards, 47, are still listed as missing more than 24 hours after the eruption.
Ms Richards sister Barbara Whitehead said the situation was “awful”.
“We still haven’t heard anything yet,” she said.

Herberton-born Robert Rogers, 78, finally got in contact with relatives in Victoria to let them know he and his wife, Betty, who were on-board Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas at the time of the eruption, were okay.
The brother of the northern Queensland man reported missing in New Zealand’s volcano disaster told of his family’s great relief at hearing their relative is alive and well.
Townsville man Robert “Buck” Rogers was among the list of the 27 Australians listed missing by the New Zealand Red Cross, in the wake of the volcanic eruption on White Island.
The names of the missing Australians appeared on the New Zealand Red Cross website Restoring Family Links late on Monday night after being reported missing by family or friends following the disaster.
The website listed the names of more than 20 Australians who were reported as missing by family and friends following the volcano eruption on White Island off the coast of New Zealand.
The site says New Zealand Red Cross will respond to inquiries that have been registered on the Family Links website as soon as they are able.
New Zealand Red Cross is working with New Zealand Police to respond to this disaster.
Meanwhile a young couple from Brisbane who were among 27 Australians initially listed as missing by the Red Cross following the volcanic eruption on White Island, New Zealand have been accounted for.
Newlyweds James Whitehouse, 23, and Madeleine Whitehouse, 24, both of Brisbane, were on the cruise ship Ovation of the Seas when the natural disaster unfolded.
The Whitehouse couple are avid travellers who “love doing life together”, according to their social media accounts.
In further good news Brisbane man Mitchell O’Shea (originally from Canberra), earlier listed as missing after the volcano erupted, is alive and well.
Mr O’Shea said had been on the cruise ship Ovation of the Seas when the Bay of Plenty volcano exploded.
He is currently on holiday with Maddy and James Whitehouse who had also been listed as missing before being located.
Mr O’Shea had not been on White Is when the incident happened.
