IF you were putting off the trip to the beach until tomorrow, think again. The weather is set to turn a little dreary.

The Bureau of Meteorology has warned that light to moderate rain can be expected across most of Queensland, with heavy downfalls and the chance of a thunderstorm in inland areas.

“It’s going to be one of those cloudy days with on-and-off light rain and heavy bursts here and there,” Meteorologist Dan Narramore said.

“Across the southeast, it’s not as heavy, but we will probably see about 5-10mm.”

“Heavy rainstorm action will be worse for inland regions, like the Darling Downs, with 10-20mm expected and some places getting up to 30mm.”

.

From Tuesday onwards, however, the rain is expected to dissipate with sunny conditions expected through to the weekend.

“Apart from tomorrow we have a week of great weather coming up,” Mr Narramore said. “Lots of sunshine is on the way,”

“Tuesday right through to next weekend is sunny with temperatures from 27 – 29 degrees.”

The news remains grim for surfers, however, with southerly swells expected to bring waves of 1.5-2m offshore and 0.5-1m inshore.

“It wouldn’t be too good for surfing as it’s mostly offshore and you’d need a really good easterly swell to get good surfing,” Mr Narramore said.
