Santa Claus has made a special early visit to Brisbane as he searched for helpers to represent him at Queensland shopping centres.

Instead of shouting his message from the rooftops Mr Claus made his proclamation from the top of the story bridge telling Queensland seniors to “un-retire with the jolliest job of all!”

Managing Director at talent agency Scene to Believe Stefan Hutton said being a Christmas character on the Santa set is the perfect casual job to boost budgets ahead of Christmas, be it for seniors, students, travellers or parents.

“Australians of any age or skill set can apply to be all kinds of Christmas characters … there really is a role for everyone on the Santa set,” he said.

“Becoming a Santa’s Helper is a great way for seniors to be more involved in their local community, interact with young people, earn some extra cash and celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.”

Experienced Queensland based Santa, Steven Johns has been in the role for 10 years and said it is ‘by far’ the best he had ever done.

“I spend my days talking to young families and getting in the festive spirit,” he said.

This year the nation’s Santa’s Helpers will get specially equipped to interact with people who are living with a disability.
