Queensland Rail launches travel deals for outback

Queensland Rail has launched a new deal to encourage people to head west to experience the state’s outback.

Qld tourism receives $70 million lifeline

An outback adventure could be the perfect trip for budding travellers, with ‘2 for 1’ tickets available on all long-distance services heading out west.

Queenslanders are being encouraged to “go west for less” as Queensland Rail launches its ‘2 for 1’ tickets on all western long distance services from today.

Transport Minister Mark Bailey said the sale came at the perfect time for those wanting to travel ahead of borders reopening, and a chance to give regional Queensland a much-needed boost.

“Now is the perfect time to experience the heart of Queensland’s outback on-board the Inlander, Westlander or Spirit of the Outback,” Mr Ryan said.

“Regional Queensland has done it tough throughout the pandemic, so I encourage travellers to head west and show our regions some much-needed support, he said.

The ‘2 for 1’ Outback Rail tickets are available for travellers aboard the Inlander, Westlander

and Spirit of the Outback.

These journeys will connect passengers from Brisbane to locations including connecting Charleville, Longreach, Mount Isa and everywhere in between.

This offer follows the government’s $8 million Great Queensland Getaway Campaign which generated more than 43,000 bookings.

Mr Bailey said the popular campaign helped incentive tourism in the Sunshine State, discounting unique experiences, flights, accommodation and attractions.

“It was clearly a hit with Queenslanders, with some offers even sold out days early,” he said.

To book tickets in the ‘2 for 1’ deal, call 1800 TRAINS or visit the Queensland Rail website.
