Queensland legend Steven Bradbury looks to be the “Last Man Standing” with new lager’s success

It’s the real-life fairytale that brought sporting legend Steven Bradbury Olympic gold. Now that same tale has found him and other sporting royalty brining a different type of “gold” to Queenslanders.

It’s the real-life tortoise and hare tale that brought unexpecting Australian sporting legend Steven Bradbury gold.

Now he is using that same tale to bring a different type of gold to Australia, but this time he’s not running the race alone.

Brewing out of South East Queensland, Last Man Standing’s “Perfectly Paced Australian Larger” is the brainchild of Mr Bradbury and Damian & Stephen Prosser, sons of the late rugby union great Roydon Prosser.

“It was an idea we’d been tossing around for years – we decided to stop talking and start doing.” The Gold Medal Olympian told the Courier-Mail.

Obviously the name is heavily linked to me but the story and the business was born out of mates who love sport and beer.” He said

While the brand acknowledges Bradbury’s shock 2002 Winter Olympics win, the larger itself hasn’t come last in gaining momentum with over 80+ Queensland locations now selling the beer since its launch 12 months ago.

“We’ve really been thankful for all those local venues that have backed us – it’s a hard industry in Australia to crack into, especially with the past few months” Stephen said.

The group chalks their success up to the strong 20+ year mateship built between the three of them and the late Roy, with the union legend playing a pivotal role in bringing them together.

“Part of our story is in honour and memory of big Roy – he backed me since I was a lone ice skater from Brisbane, he was more than a mate to me.” Mr Bradbury said.

“We’ve seen that by brewing a mainstream rather than craft lager, we’ve really created something that appeals to everyday Australians and so fits as well with Steven’s Olympic story as well as it does Dad’s legacy.” Damian said.

“Humbly we believe we have one of Australia’s best lagers. We genuinely can’t wait for every beer drinker in Australia to try it for them themselves.”
