Qld election: Premier refuses to back Jackie Trad for Cabinet role if Labor wins October election
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is refusing to confirm whether there will be a place in Cabinet for embattled MP Jackie Trad if Labor wins the October election, responding to comments from her former deputy it was missing “a bit of flair”.

PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk has batted away questions about her Cabinet having missed “a bit of flair” since former deputy premier Jackie Trad resigned in May.
Ms Palaszczuk this morning said she was focused on the state’s COVID-19 recovery.

It follows an interview at the weekend with The Australian where Ms Trad joked Cabinet had missed “a bit of flair” when she was asked what the ministry had missed since she left.
“I’m not commenting on that,” the Premier said this morning, before batting away another question about whether the comment had offended her.
The Premier repeated she would not deal in hypotheticals when asked whether she would welcome the South Brisbane MP back into Cabinet.
“Every member of my team will be focused on winning their seat and any other questions beyond that are purely hypothetical,” she said.
“She (Jackie Trad) can say what she wants to say but I’m focused on Queenslanders, I am absolutely focused on our health response and our economic response.”
Ms Trad resigned from Cabinet in May after learning the Crime and Corruption Commission was investigating allegations she’d interfered in the recruitment process of a school principal.
She has since been cleared by the watchdog.
