PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk is single after splitting with partner Shaun Drabsch.

The Premier confirmed the split was “amicable” and the pair remain friends.

“I have no other comment to make,” she told The Sunday Mail.

The pair linked before the January 2015 election but the relationship came under political fire last year during November’s election campaign, with conflict of interest allegations relating to Mr Drabsch’s role as an infrastructure adviser for PricewaterhouseCoopers.

PwC acted for Adani in talks with the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility after the company was granted mining leases.

It led to what was described as an LNP smear campaign against Ms Palaszczuk and Mr Drabsch, and consultation with the state integrity commissioner.

The Palaszczuk Government moved to veto the NAIF loan during the election campaign in November, raising the election stakes in north Queensland, where job creation remains a challenge.

Ms Palaszczuk, who has been married twice but has no children, became the first woman to become state leader from Opposition.

Mr Drabsch was a senior adviser to former premier Peter Beattie before joining the private sector.

The 48-year-old Premier often works into the night in her William St office when Parliament is not sitting.

A restricted social program often means weekends are spent at her home in Brisbane’s western suburbs with family, including her nephew and nieces.

Weekends also provide a chance to catch up with her fluffy dog, Winton, whose carers include Ms Palaszczuk’s father, Henry, a former Labor cabinet minister.

The Premier returned from Council of Australian Governments meetings in Canberra on Friday to prepare for the opening ceremonies of State Parliament from Tuesday.

Ironically for the Premier, Governor Paul de Jersey will conduct the formal opening of Parliament next Wednesday – Valentine’s Day.

Ms Palaszczuk was struck down with a bad case of the flu just after the November 26 election. She battled it for several weeks and was still not feeling 100 per cent during her Christmas-New Year break, which she spent at Stradbroke Island and Sunshine Beach.

The Premier has spoken publicly of her greatest regret – not being able to have children. She is incredibly family-focused and regularly visits her 95-year-old grandmother.
