PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk has issued a statement slamming the Tattersall’s Club in Brisbane CBD for its stance on women members and doubled down on her ban of her cabinet from attending the 153-year-old institution.

The Tattersall’s Club, aka the Queen St Workers Club, has been embroiled in an increasingly bitter civil war on whether women should be admitted as full members.

Ms Palaszczuk has banned Labor MPs from attending Tatts until their membership policy is changed.

A vote on the issue at Tatts is imminent and Tattersall’s president Stuart Fraser has conceded he needed to “restore harmony” after floating the proposal for female membership almost two months ago, The Australian reports.

On Sunday, the Premier warned that her cabinet — whose male ministers were offered “honorary membership” after winning the election in 2015 — would continue to boycott the club until women were allowed to join as full members.

“In a state that has a female Premier, Deputy Premier, Opposition Leader and Chief Justice, a club that seeks to engage community leaders but bans women from being members is out of step with community sentiment,” Ms Palaszczuk said in a statement.

“While any vote is a matter for the club, our position is unchanged — my ministers will not be joining or attending the club while the current eligibility remains.”
