THE LNP has asked Speaker Curtis Pitt to refer Mark Bailey to State Parliament’s powerful Ethics Committee over allegations he misled the House about the use of his “mangocube” email account.
The LNP yesterday wrote to Mr Pitt alleging emails from the yahoo account last month are at odds with the Transport Minister’s assertion that the account was used only for “private purposes”.
The Opposition also alleges Mr Bailey misled the House over the action he took following a request from the ETU to intervene in a planned super fund merger.
Mr Bailey had told State Parliament he was not a decision-maker in the process and “made no representations whatsoever with anybody”.
The Opposition, however, seized on correspondence found within the almost 200 emails released under Right to Information last month from the accounts that it alleges “show the Minister forwarding the email from Peter Simpson and a brief from Hall Payne lawyers to his then chief of staff Denise Spinks”.
“The Member for Miller has at least made one representation about the matter to one other person,” the Opposition alleges.
Mr Bailey denied he had misled the House when questioned about the content of the emails last month.
It comes after Health Minister Steven Miles became the first MP to be sin-binned by Mr Pitt with the new Speaker ordering him out of the House during Question Time yesterday.
