LNP president David Hutchinson has admitted “mistakes were made” following recent unrest within the party.
In his weekly electronic letter to members last Friday, Mr Hutchinson said he “takes responsibility for my share of them (mistakes)” and wrote that “tough conversations have been held to ensure that we are in the best position to win”.
Peter Dutton says LNP president Dave Hutchinson’s position ‘untenable’
It comes after angry party members blamed him for a series of damaging polling leaks against LNP leader Deb Frecklington.
Federal Liberal National MP and Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton took the extraordinary step of calling on Mr Hutchinson to resign numerous times last month.
“To win any election is difficult. To win an election where the president of the party has participated in actions to undermine the parliamentary leader is impossible,” Mr Dutton wrote last month.
In his letter to members, Mr Hutchinson said: “Deb Frecklington will be leading our team to the election and I can assure you that both the organisational and parliamentary wings of the LNP are determined to work as one to win the coming state election — this is our singular purpose.”
Ms Frecklington earlier this week again refused to say whether she supported Mr Hutchinson staying in the job but revealed the pair had recently spoken.
