QT Gold Coast unveils new cabins as tourists return post-Covid

One of the Gold Coast’s most popular hotels has opened a cosy new accommodation option in the heart of the Glitter Strip as operators prepare for a busy summer holiday period.

QT Gold Coast is joining a tourism renaissance of industry operators emerging from the cloud of the coronavirus pandemic to unveil shiny new offerings just in time for the summer holidays.

The Surfers Paradise resort will this week launch qtQT Cabins, a multimillion-dollar seaside village nestled into an outdoor garden adjacent to the main hotel tower.

Six cozy cabins, part beach shack, part tiny house, feature private balconies spilling out into a tropical oasis two floors above street level with guests pampered by the precinct’s own dedicated concierge dubbed the “Curator of Sunshine”.

The precinct was built on a previously unused outdoor area, with the cabins accompanying an outdoor yoga studio, wedding space, fire pit, pizza ovens and other facilities.

Jane Hastings, CEO of QT’s parent company EVT, said the project had been on the radar for some time.

“We had been exploring the world of tiny accommodation and standing there as the sun set, we knew this would be the perfect location to trial our interpretation of this experience, the QT way,” she said.

The project is one of a growing number of exciting new products enticing travellers to Queensland as the pandemic slowly recedes into the rearview mirror.

Queensland has taken an early lead in Australia’s post-Covid tourism race, spending the past few months as the country’s No. 1 tourism destination ahead of traditional rivals NSW and Victoria.

Gold Coast theme parks, outback glamp sites and Great Barrier Reef tour operators are among the tourism businesses rolling the dice on multimillion-dollar products in a bid to stay ahead of the competition.
