Prime Minister Scott Morrison has copped a savage sledge for posing for a pre-election photo opportunity, before admitting one sector was in “crisis”.

The Prime Minister visited the Labor-held Dunkley on the Mornington Peninsula on Friday and offered to wash the hair of a woman in a local hair salon.

His campaign stop was in stark contrast to the Omicron “crisis” confronting aged care residents and staff.

Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles tore into Mr Morrison.

“Maybe he could volunteer at one of the nursing homes unable to bathe residents because of a Covid outbreak?” he wrote before adding, “So now he can hold a hose?”

It is the latest in a series of political brawls between the two leaders.

In September, Mr Miles called the Prime Minister the “master of distraction” and told him to “focus on his job”.

Later that year, he ratcheted the criticism up another notch, accusing Mr Morrison of undermining Queensland’s coronavirus efforts for the sake of his own political survival.

Asked about Mr Miles’ commentary, Mr Morrison sought to shrug it off.

“I don’t feel the need to respond to political attacks from the Queensland Deputy Premier. I’m fairly used to them,” he said.

Mr Miles isn’t the only politician having a crack at Mr Morrison over his latest photo opportunity.

Federal Labor MP Tim Watts poked fun at Mr Morrison for “play acting” someone else’s job.

“Why is this Prime Minister always play acting at doing other people’s jobs instead of just doing the job that he was elected to do for the Australian people.”
