Prime Minister Scott Morrison has finally spoken out about the frosty greeting he shared with former Australian of the year Grace Tame.

Grace Tame’s true intentions with Scott Morrison revealed

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has finally addressed former Australian of the Year Grace Tame’s frosty greeting this week saying his government has done “more than any other government” for the issues she’s raised.

Sexual abuse survivor Grace Tame made headlines earlier this week for refusing to smile when greeting the Prime Minister and his wife Jenny at The Lodge when her Australian of the Year tenure was coming to an end.

Host of 4BC Neil Breen asked Mr Morrison this morning if he felt “disrespected” by Ms Tame’s actions.

“Oh look, I’ve seen all that. When anyone comes to our home, when Jenny and I, we invite someone to our home, we greet them with a smile and they’re always welcome,” Mr Morrison said.

When asked how the Prime Minister felt about Ms Tame making it a “political statement”, Mr Morrison said he hadn’t raised any issues about it.

“All I’m saying is we were there that day to celebrate those who had done an incredible job for our country. And Jenny and I wanted to welcome them to our home and wish them all the best.”

He called Ms Tame a “passionate person who’s raised important issues” before crediting his government’s work on addressing the issues she’s raised.

“Our government has done more than any other government on this issue, and that is in part because of the strong focus that has been brought to these issues and the response that we’ve made,” he said.

“So I thank her for her time as Australian of the Year and as I say, when you know, if people come to our house, Jenny and I always greet them with a smile.”
