Teachers have been exposed stripping and dressing as a nun in a salacious photoshoot at a Brisbane school to feature in an “unacceptable” calendar that was then displayed in the staffroom.

The Courier-Mail can reveal two teachers at Balmoral State High School – in Education Minister Di Farmer’s Bulimba electorate – were photographed in compromising positions for a 2023 calendar.

A second photo shows the same teacher kneeling on the floor while another, dressed as a nun, puts their foot on his backside.

A third image features a teacher pretending to pour milk towards the mouth of a female colleague.

It is understood some staff at the school were aware of the calendar throughout 2023, but whistleblowers say a staff complaint in December prompting its existence to be denied.

Whistleblowers say the calendar is evidence of a toxic and unprofessional culture at the school, and say the images were taken last year in the toilet block and new staffroom kitchen.

According to the whistleblower the calendar was displayed on desks of staff members in a staffroom, which was on occasion accessed by students.

“There have been a number of people who have seen it,” they said.

It is understood a school staff member had complained about the calendar and the whistleblower said it reflected poorly on the culture at the school.

“It’s the lack of professionalism, it’s the fact they’ve involved a nun and he’s dressed as some gay guy – it’s completely inappropriate … and totally unacceptable,” they said.

The Department of Education confirmed it was “looking into the matter”, but would not confirm the comments of whistleblowers that the images were taken on the school grounds and the subjects were teachers.

“The department does not comment on individual employee matters as it has a responsibility to maintain the confidentiality of employee information,” a spokeswoman said.

The whistleblower said students were teased about the contents of the calendar, with some shown the image at the end of last year.

That claim has been emphatically denied by the Department of Education, which said the school advised the department that no students, parents or caregivers had been shown the calendar.

“They are also unaware of any complaints having been made to the school,” a spokeswoman said.

One Nation chief of staff and candidate for Keppel James Ashby, who is familiar with the calendar, said it was in poor taste.

“Teachers are meant to be role models for young impressionable minds – they’re not there to emulate porn stars,” he said.

“What they do behind their own closed doors is up to them, but don’t bring it inside the school gate.

“It’s not acceptable and only ruins the reputation and hard work of the vast number of teachers who want to focus on positive student outcomes so that kids are equipped for the real world.”
